Now I would like to share with you additional sites that are going to allow you to get more free blogging traffic.  Basically, this is a list of Blog directory sites.  You will want to use this list and submit your blog to these handful of popular sites. Doing this while using Digg.com and Technorati.com will all allow you that extra boost of free blog traffic that you deserve.

So, what I want to do is start off with a list of the 4 of the most popular blog directory sites.  Afterward, I wam going to share with you an additional list of blog directory sites where you can submit your log.  Here is my top four list: 

#1:  www.BlogCatalog.com.  BlogCatalog.com was started in 2004 and has quickly become known as the premier blog directory site.  At the time of writing this article, it has received an Alexa ranking of 784, meaning that according to Alexa, it is the 784^th most popular website on the web.

#2:   www.BlogTopList.com  Was started in 2006 and is another great website where you should post your blog.  It currently has an Alexa ranking of 2,230.

#3:  www.TopBlogArea.com Also started in 2006, TopBlogArea.com has an Alexa ranking of 5,010.

#4:   Dir.BlogFlux.com  O.K., I also suggest submitting your blog to this blog directory site.  With an Alexa ranking of 9,491, it isn’t a really popular site on the web, but it may still give you a decent boost in traffic. 

Did I mention that there are hundreds of blog directory sites on the web?  If you want, you can pay for services that will submit your blog to a lot of them.  Would this be worth the money?  My guess is that it probably wouldn’t be.  I have tried to give you what I have found to be the most popular blog directory sites thus far.  The following list also includes a few sites that are decently popular as RSS and blog directory sites.  Go ahead and add your blog to these sites as well if you want even more exposure. They probably won’t give you very much free traffic when compared to the top 4 list, but all you need to do is submit to these additional sites once and you can get even more free traffic over months and years to come.  These additional sites are ranking by popularity according to Alexa:

Tip #4:  You need to take your blog and article content and engage in video marketing.

Once you have taken all the time to create great blog posts and articles, why not create a video with the same content?  I like simply writing the bullet points from my articles on a board and then just explaining them on video.  There are tools that allow you to upload each video that you create to many of the different video sharing sites.  This means that you can multiply your efforts and have each one of your videos on over 40 different sites.  What you simply do is mention your website at the end of your videos while creating a compelling offer for people to go to your website and learn more.

Tip #5:  Take all of your blog and article content and create viral eBooks.

After writing 10 or 20 articles and/or blog posts on a specific topic, you may very easily consider yourself somewhat of an expert on that topic.  Why not take these 10 or 20 articles and turn them into chapters for a simple viral eBook?  This is an eBook that you will give away for free and then allow other people to also give it away for free.  If you have a professional eBook cover created for your viral eBook, many people may even decide to give your book away for free as a free bonus on their own website.  You will make sure that your book contains a few affiliate links as well as links to your own website so that you will be compensated for your efforts.

Tip #6:  Spruce up your email marketing.

It is very easy to take your best blog posts and include them as content in your auto responder.  Also, with a couple of viral eBooks that you are giving away for free, people may really start to enjoy all of the content that you are giving away for free in your email marketing.  As a result, people may start to complement your website for all of its great information, and they will start to tell others of all that they can learn if they go to your website and get on your emailing list.  So, by taking your best work and incorporating it in your email marketing, you can eventually create some great word of mouth marketing for your online business.

Tip #7:  If people provide word of mouth marketing, compensate them for it.

What am I talking about here?  I am simply saying that you should set up an affiliate program for your website.  Basically, if people like your website to the point that they are telling others about it, they might as well become your affiliate and really start marketing your website for you.  If you are selling information over the web, setting up an affiliate program can easily be done if you just use ClickBank.com.  Also, people who are on ClickBank automatically start to obtain affiliates without actively searching for them.  This is because affiliate marketers are always on ClickBank looking for great products to promote.

These 7 tips are simple concepts, but most people never decide to actually implement them.  This is because it seems like a lot of work.  Well, I ain’t gonna lie, it really is work.  But the way I see it, you can take 3 months of your time and really work on these techniques, and then you can have continued free traffic to your website for years to come.  And if you work these techniques as hard as you should for a 3 month period, then you can generate 10’s of thousands of dollars worth of advertising for your business.

Tip #1:  You need to use article marketing, no matter how unappealing that concept may be to you. 

There is no doubt about it, one of the easiest ways to drive free traffic to your websites is through writing articles for the article directory sites.  Just one great article can get you tens of thousands of free visitors to your website.  The article directory sites are always looking for fresh content that they can distribute for you across the web.  Also, services are available that will allow you to submit your articles to hundreds of different sites.  I highly suggest that you use www.SubmitYourArticle.com.   

Tip #2:  You need to create a blog on your website. 

Blogging for free traffic is actually rather easy, but you need to put the blog on your actual website.  This allows your website to grow into a huge online presence.  For example, if you created 50 blog posts over a 3 month period, then that is 50 pages of content added to your website.  With simple search engine optimization, the search engines will spider and index all of the content found on your blog.  Once people visit your blog, you will want to give them options to subscribe to your auto responder, or you will want to give them options to visit your homepage or other web pages where you have products to sell. 

Tip #3:  You need to use social bookmarking sites.

If you follow step two, then step three can be an easy one.  What you can easily do to participate in social networking and social bookmarking websites is simply add features like the Digg.com buttons and other add to favorite buttons on your blog.  There are some simple tools that you can use to automate this process if you have installed the WordPress.org blogging software on your website.  What you want people to do is to easily have the option of adding the content on your blog on these social bookmarking websites.

Now, for those of us that are already familiar with Digg.com, what we really want is to know how we can easily use this website in order to drive more free traffic to our blogs and other web pages.  As you know, using Digg.com is free, but what you get from Digg.com is nothing if you don’t set up your content so that it can easily be dugg.  What I want to do in this short article is share with you some simple ways that allow your website content to be dugg, so that you can relax and enjoy the benefits that come from your efforts. 

The first that that you will want to do in order to get the most Diggs possible will be to integrate Digg.com with your own website.  This can easily be done by visiting http://digg.com/tools/integrate.  Here is where you will discover a number of tools that allow you to add the “Digg This” buttons to your web pages.  The only problem with these tools is that you will generally need to add the “Digg This” button to each one of your web pages that you want dugg.  This can be very time consuming, and in no way is this automated. 

I know that most of you love automation, so this next tool is one that will allow you to add a “Share This” tool to the end of all WordPress blog posts.  It is a simple WordPress plugin that you can use for your blog.  Here is a link for this plugin:

If in the future, this link doesn’t work, just Google “Share It Plugin.”  Also, just so you know, WordPress continues to make updates, so if this Plugin doesn’t work in the future, then what I like to do is Google the phrases:  Diggit Plugins, or Social Bookmarking plugins.  Adding these plugins to your blog will greatly increase your web traffic. 

 I am also using another tool that allows your posts to be dugg once they are submitted to Digg.com.  You can also use this tool for your automation, and once again this is a WordPress plugin:

Of course, you will want to play around with all of these tools while you experiment with Digg.com to see which of these tools you want on your blog and websites.

When I say content is king, what I am really saying is that  a 50 page website is a whole lot better than a 10 page website, which is a whole lot better that a 2 page website.  I had a 2 page website that I eventually converted into tons more pages by simply adding a blog.  When this website was only 2 pages, I was paying for AdWords and thought that everything was going to work fine.  It was a sales letter format website, so people would only need two pages.  One page to learn about the product, and a second page to order.  Well, have you ever heard of the Google Slap?  This is when Google will stop allowing you to pay 20 or 30 cents per click and will start telling you that you need to pay $5 and $10 per click for the same AdWords.  From my understanding, many of the victims of this Google Slap were from websites that had little content (like my 2 page website when compared to others with 50 pages or more). 

Now, a Google Slap is bad enough, but for your success, what may be even worse is that fact that you aren’t getting free website traffic if you don’t have some good content.  You see, when you simply optimize your website while adding a blog, you can easily start to see free traffic coming to your website.  This is due to the fact that search engines will spider your blog and index your blog pages in the search engine listings.  This free traffic is nothing to miss out on, and content really is the key here.  What I mean is that if you have 300 optimized blog pages on your website, then you are likely to drive a whole lot more traffic than a blog that only has 20 or 30 pages of optimized content.  So, once you start to see the free traffic pour in from your blog, what will you want to do?  Keep posting!  Imagine, if you took the time to write one great blog post per day, by the end of the year that would be 365 pages of content added to your website.  Also, keep in mind that very few websites do this.  My guess is that less than 1% of all websites have a blog, and if you are one of the few people in your niche market with a blog, then the more you post, the more free traffic you will get to your website.   

Easy Tip #1:  Go after easier keyword phrases.  It makes since that it should be easier for you to get the #1 rank for the keywords- Utah real estate agents, rather than the keywords- real estate agents.  Using this example, if you are a real estate agent in North Carolina, you will want to simply try to optimize your web pages for keywords that people may type in if they were trying to find a real estate agent in some of the cities of North Carolina.  For example, how many people do you think have optimized web pages for the keywords- real estate agents in Charlotte?  Since many people don’t even know basic SEO, you could very easily be the only person on the web optimizing your website for keyword phrases that are this specific.  Now, think about this:  If your real estate practice is in North Carolina, and you easily get the number one spot on the search engines for- real estate agents in Charlotte, then how hard would it be to get the number one spots for other cities like Durham and Fayetteville?  Even if you aren’t in these cities, you could generate leads and sell these leads to some of the agents you know in these other cities, plus your website would get more and more popular in many of the cities of North Carolina.  Before you know it, you will probably have the number one spot for the keyword phrases- NC real estate, and North Carolina real estate.  If you can do this for one state, then you can do it for another state.  Building your website so that you dominate the rankings for various less competitive keyword phrases will help build your business and may eventually get you to the top of the rankings!

Easy Tip #2:  Simply create a blog on your website.  You just simply won’t believe how much free traffic creating a blog can do for you.  Basically, when creating a blog you are able to easily create multiple pages for your website, and each time you create a post, this creates another page.  So if you can post even just a few times per week, this adds a few pages each week to your website.  Also, the search engines like blogs because it is fresh content that is updated frequently.  It is not uncommon to see blogs getting the number one spot for certain keyword phrases, and you can do the same.  Just simply head on over to WordPress.org in order to get the software to upload to your websites server.  It’s free. 

Easy Tip #3:  Still use meta tags and titles.  Even though the search engines aren’t going to rank your pages because of what your meta tags are saying, they are still important to have.  Using the meta tags and the titles as a “guide” for the search engines can actually help you out.  You will want to guide the search engines through the content on your pages.  If you have a page about real estate agents in Charlotte, North Carolina, then you will want to have your title and meta tags relate to this topic.  After you have done this, you better make sure that your page talks about how people can get in contact with real estate agents in Charlotte, North Carolina!  You may even want to make sure that the phrases and meta tags act as keywords as well in the context of these pages.  If you let the search engines use your titles and meta tags in order to guide them to the bulk of the content on your pages, and if the search engines find your content (not your tags and titles) relevant, then you can get those pages indexed and ranked.    

I wanted put the focus for this article on the absolute easiest ways to get free traffic for your website.  Sometimes I feel that I share techniques that people think would require “too much work.”  Many of the techniques I share with people do require some hard work, but it is well worth your efforts.  But there are also some really easy things that you can do in order to get more traffic free.

To start off, one of the easiest things you could ever do to get more free traffic is by submitting a sitemap to Google and Yahoo.  This is the easiest way to “ask” the search engines to spider your website for content.  It is 100% free and is a great way for getting some of your website pages extra exposure.  Sure, Google will “naturally” start to spider your website for content, but as an entrepreneur, I know you are patient.  By submitting your sitemaps, you can start to get your site spidered within a couple of weeks rather than waiting months or even years for the search engines to “notice” your web pages. 

Another really easy thing you can do for some extra free traffic is to take some of the content on your site, and then modify it slightly into article format.  You would then just simply submit a couple of articles per week to an article directory site such as EzineArticles.com.  You will start to see that these articles will get pretty high rankings, usually higher rankings than the web page that you “copied” this content from. 

After creating and uploading your articles, I like to take a few minutes to turn each article into a couple of videos.  It is really easy and still looks professional to simply have someone film you in front of a dry erase board as you explain those same concepts that were in the article.  You can then just upload those videos to the more popular video sharing sites like Yahoo Video, Google Video, and YouTube.  Make sure you mention your website in your videos and give people a compelling reason to visit your website in order to get more free info. 

One more simple technique that will help you increase your website traffic will be to have a few links on your website that “remind” people that they can bookmark your page on the many social bookmarking websites.  This is a popular practice that people use on their blog pages.  They hope that people will bookmark their blogs pages, but they know that if they include the links that remind people to bookmark, then the pages will have higher chances of getting that bookmark.  Once your web pages have been bookmarked by enough people, you will see that you will start getting even more free traffic for these social bookmarking sites like Digg, Technorati, and Del.icio.us.

With all of the advice that I will share with you on affiliate marketing, you should probably consider this piece of advice to be the most important: Make your website successful first, and then set up your affiliate program. Here’s why: Some people set up their website at the same time they set up their affiliate programs. As a result, they use affiliates and the guinea pigs for their business. And if the website that was created doesn’t convert, then you have wasted your affiliate’s time and money, making them never want to do business with your company in the future. But if you can make your website successful, and then you can tell your affiliates that X percentage of your website visitors turn into buyers, then this can be a really appealing motive for people to join your affiliate program.

So here is how to do things the right way for tons of free traffic: First of all, keep in mind that some of your affiliates may end up using pay-per-click advertising in order to drive traffic to your website. Let’s pretend that an affiliate on average will spend $20 in pay-per-click advertising for every 100 visitors they send to your website. This means that most of your affiliates will be happy with a $30 return for each $20 that they invested. Now, if your profit per visitor to your website is 40 cents, then you would be making about $40 profit for every 100 visitors to your website. This means that 75% of your profit would need to go to pay for your affiliates. If it is hard for you to tweak your online business so that your affiliates can make these types of returns, then you will want to improve your business before setting up an affiliate program.

I am assuming that you already have topics picked out in order for you to create multiple videos.  If you don’t then you’ll want to take the time to do so.  I usually pick keyword phrases within my niche markets that I want to dominate.  I think create keyword rich titles relevant to the topics outlined in those keyword phrases.  I then make sure I use those same keyword phrases as the tags for my videos.

Realizing that videos can take a fairly long time to upload, you will want to keep your videos short and to the point.  So if I am creating a video on “How to Create 100 YouTube Videos in One Day,”  then I would want to run through all the outlined steps and give you my offer for additional information all within 1 ½ minutes time. 

O.K., so in order to reach the goal of 100 videos in one day, this is what you will do.  You will take your 100 titles along with your keywords, but you will put each of those 100 titles in groups of 3.  Each group of 3 will represent titles that are so similar to each other that you can assign that same title to the exact same video.  What does this mean?  This means that you are actually only going to shoot 34 videos, add different introductions and endings to the videos, all so that you can create 100 videos with those 34 videos that you have recorded.  Is this legit?  Well, if you upload the exact same video to YouTube, then you know it will get rejected.  The same rule applies to other websites.  But if you take one video, make a normal version, then make a version with text introducing the video, and then make a version with a credits at the end of the video, technically you have created 3 different videos, haven’t you?  And if all 3 of those videos have unique titles, then there are rarely any problems even though a large portion of the content may be the same. 

O.K., so this is your next step:  While you are creating your 3 different versions, you will also need to start uploading your videos (since that normally takes a while).  I use a program that lets me upload each video 1 time, and then I input the title with the tags in order to upload this same video to various sites.  Luckily, by keeping my videos under 1 and ½ minutes long, I can upload these videos pretty fast.  Usually by the time I have finished taking one video clip and turning it into 3 videos, the previous 3 videos have already finished uploading.  With this method I go in a cycle, creating 3 versions of each video clip while 3 different videos are uploading. 

After all of my videos are created and uploaded, I can then add then just add the titles and the tags to the videos and then send them to multiple sites (over 40 sites) all at once.  Here is the timeline as to how to make this all happen in 24 hours:  If you haven’t already created your titles and tags, you are a step behind.  If you work fast, this can take you just a few hours.  When you are ready to film, you will decide to film 34 topics, all at under 1 ½ minutes long.  If you already have your topics ready to go, and you already know what you are going to teach people in the videos, then you can keep the camera rolling as you teach one topic, pause, prepare for the next, and then teach the next topic.  With this method you can record on a few different taps and should be done with the whole process within 3 hours.  That gives you a little over 5 minutes on average to record each topic. 

When you upload the first tape of videos to your computer, you can finally take a little break, maybe eat lunch or something.  But the second your tape is done uploading, then you need to start taking that content and creating your videos.  I use windows movie maker in order to easily take each topic that I have recorded and turn it into 3 different videos.  I can usually create 3 videos from each one of my topics while simultaneously uploaded 3 other videos, in about 10 minute’s time.  This means that after about 6 hours, you should finally have all 100 videos created and uploaded, and then you just need to add your title, description and tags.  Now, since your titles and tags have already been written, the only hard part here is your descriptions, unless you do what I do.  Most of the time my actual description is my offer for more free information, so most of the times, all of my descriptions are the same.  If you have all your descriptions the same, then is should only take you a few more hours to send your videos to the video sharing sites if you use the type of software that I use to send out my videos.

One of the great ways to getting free targeted traffic involves what I am doing right now.  If you use article marketing the correct way, then your articles will get exposure across the web.  If people like you article, then they will likely go to your website to see what you have to offer.  Here is a warning:  When I first got introduced to article marketing, I was planning on writing and submitting about 10 articles per week.  This is a very bad idea.  Since many of the article directory sites actually read your articles before accepting them, if they see that you are trying to “flood” the market with your articles then they will assume that you are not submitting your best work every week.  It is best to only submit a couple of articles per week, gain the trust of the article directory sites, and then your best work will likely be shared on a number of respected websites.

One of the major ways that people implement in order to get free traffic to their websites is by using multiple SEO tricks, many of which I have never heard of.  I have the privilege of knowing a few people that own website management firms.  I told them that from what I understood, the best and easiest way to get free traffic through the search engines was to simply have a theme for each page, submit a sitemap to search engines like Yahoo and Google, and then create great content so that people will naturally link to your website.  They pretty much agreed with me and said that a lot of time when people focus on the many “SEO tricks” that are out there, they are actually putting their website at risk of being completely rejected by the search engines. 

Creating a “theme” for each website page allows the search engines to know and rank the type of content that you have provided for each page.  Even though meta tags aren’t used by search engines to rank websites anymore, they are still used in order to see what type of content is on your webpage.  So if you have meta tags related to the topic of “internet marketing for beginners,”  then you would want to make sure that your page(s) were directly teaching internet marketing tactics for beginners.

Creating a sitemap for a search engine like Google is rather easy.  Providing Google with a sitemap allows Google to be able to easily spider all of the pages on your website.  It also allows you to tell Google how often there are updates to your website so that you can have your content spidered more often.  This is especially helpful if you have a blog on you website.  If each day you post a new blog, you are going to want your page spidered and ranked asap.  If you don’t provide Google with a site map, then your website pages will eventually get spidered by Google, but it could take months, and your website may not get spidered as often as you want to.  On one of my websites, I was only getting my home page spidered by Google.  Within about a week after I submitted my sitemap, I started to get a number of my website pages spidered and ranked, and then after about 1 month, my website started to get spidered a couple times a week because I am constantly adding to my blog.  As a result, my search engine rankings for my blog and website are really high for a website that has only be around for 6 months!  If you start to get your websites spidered like mine, and if you theme each of your pages, then you will start to get lots of free traffic through the search engines.  Also, if you are providing great content on your website, people will start to naturally link to your website, which will provide you even more free website traffic.
