Now there are a good handful of websites that are already giving away information for free, and they have discovered why this method of marketing works so well.  But I just wanted to point out that many of the REALLY successful websites are giving away information so great that they are making extraordinary amounts of internet profits.  Basically, what I am saying is that it almost seems like the better your free information is, the more money you are going to make. 

But why is this?  Why if I give you tons of free conference calls, eBooks, videos and mini courses, information that other companies would probably charge you hundreds of dollars for, if I do all this why will I make a whole lot of income?  I believe this is because people have the mindset that if the free information is so great, then the paid information must be spectacular.  This puts a lot of pressure on us as a business to create the best information that we can provide.  But, as a business owner, isn’t that what I should be doing anyway?  And, if I am providing outstanding information, then I have the right to charge a bit more than a mediocre company would, right? 

Think about this:  If you come to my website and I give you a free weekly newsletter for signing up on my auto responder, then that would be worth it to you if I was giving you some great information each week.  But if I am only giving you one email per week, are you going to think that the program that I am selling you is worth $1,000?  Nope!  If I were you, I wouldn’t expect to pay more than $34 on a website that was sending me an occasional email each week as the “free info.”  But, if each week I invite you to a couple of conference calls, and every few weeks I am sending you free 50 page pdfs with valuable information, and if I am constantly creating great videos you can view for free, then could I justify the $1,000 cost for my program?  The answer for most businesses would be a confident “yes.”  So, what is the whole point of what I am teaching you hear.  What I am trying to teach you is that the more great information you can give away for free, the more likely you are going to be to make huge internet profits.  And if you give away a minimal amount of information for free each week, then it will be pretty tough to justify a price of $1,000, $500, or even $200 for whatever product or service you are selling.

Reason #1: Paying for your advertising can break the bank. There are a number of internet marketers out there with great products and services that can really help people out, but at times, paying even 30 cents per click can make it so that little profits are generated. Also, with the growing competition of PPC advertising, you are sometimes lucky if you can still pay 30 cents per click. Paying for your advertising should just be the start, and then you’ll want to start getting some of your advertising for free through the free viral techniques that we teach.

Reason #2: You may never get past a few hundred visitors to your site each day if your site doesn’t go viral. How much money would you like to make with your new site? 6 figures, 7 figures? Can you make even 6 figures with only a few hundred visitors per day? If people don’t tell people, don’t tell people, who tell other people about your site, then you’ll likely never get thousands of visitors to your site each day.

Reason #3: Part of free viral advertising comes from the fact that you are benefiting the online community with something. If you are helping people and solving people’s problems, then some people will tell others about your site. If you don’t do your market research and then create a site that truly helps people, then how do you expect to achieve online success? With the large amount of competition across the web, you will want to have at least a small amount of free viral advertising. This will act as a gauge to show you that you are on your way to success.

So, these are the 3 reasons why you must take this “gamble” to try and make your site go viral. You’ve got to work at it. There are so many people trying to make a buck online nowadays that if you don’t take this gamble, then you likely aren’t trying hard enough.

Now that you understand that the “tips” for free viral marketing are conceptual, I can share these concepts with you.  The more you understand these concepts, the more free viral traffic you will receive.  Here they are:

Concept #1:  Content is king.  Think about the last time you shared a website, book, or movie with someone.  Why did you share it with them?  It was likely because you were very impressed with the content.  If you want free viral marketing for your site, then the free content you provide needs to be so exceptional that people will want to share it with others.

Concept #2:  People love free stuff.  The more quality “free stuff” that you can give away on your site, then the more people will share your site with others.  Let me prove this to you:  If on one of my sites I was giving away free cars in exchange for a name and mailing address, then how fast would you tell your friends and family about my site?  I know that if anyone had a site like this that was truly giving away free cars, then I would immediately tell everyone I knew to make sure they got their free cars as well.  I use this example just to show you that the more things you give away free, the more people will tell others about your site.  You don’t need to give away tangibles, this can be free eBooks, mini courses, coupons, etc. 

Concept #3:  If they can profit from it, then they will share your website even more.  You understand this concept perfectly if you have any type of affiliate program for your site.  If people can make money by sharing your site, and if they are convinced that it will be worth their time, then they will share. 

These are the basic three concepts behind getting free viral marketing for your website.  As you can see, there are no step-by-step instructions.  It’s through these concepts that the free traffic will come.  Study these concepts and test them out on your own site, and you will likely start to generate that free viral traffic to your site.

The first thing you will want to do involves the concept of gifting.  In most cases you will want to give away information that is free since that will not cost you money, but in other businesses you may want to give away free samples, coupons, subscriptions, etc. 

Let me give you a great example of gifting that will generate more sales along with your goal of successful viral marketing.  Dan Dimit and I sell information on our website www.TheFreeTrafficFormula.com.  But, before we sell, we give away a lot of information for free.  In fact, we want people to see great results from the free stuff before they decide to buy.  So, Dan and I give away free eBooks and conference calls.  We also share a lot of great information in our mini course.  We also tell people about great software that they can get in order to help them drive even more free traffic to their websites.  All of this free information was designed to be great, and it was designed to help people start generating a good amount of free traffic before they decide to buy our product:  The Free Traffic Formula.  We have designed things so that you are getting so much value for free, that we think you would be rather selfish not to tell others about this free information, especially because other websites may charge you hundreds of dollars for this information that we are giving away for free.  As a result, we expect that because we have implemented the concept of gifting so well, that people will tell others about our website so that others can experience these free materials.  We want people to think that if the free information is this great, that it must be even greater when they pay for our product.  And guess what, it is! 

O.K., so if you use the concept of gifting correctly for your businesses, then it should generate free leads and traffic and it should also create some really great word of mouth or viral marketing.  So, now for the second way to create viral website traffic.  It is actually through a concept that I already mentioned.  Remember that Dan and I give away free eBooks when people visit our website.  Well, these are eBooks that we have created as viral eBooks.  This means that we give them away for free, and we also give people free redistribution and resale rights with each copy that is given away.  We also make sure that we have a great eBook cover created for these viral eBooks so that people can use that image in their own marketing if they decide to give our eBooks away as free bonuses on their own websites.  When you create these viral eBooks, you can make them as long or as short as you want.  Since I am giving it away for free, I try to keep it around 50 pages in length with good solid content.  I will include maybe a few affiliate links in this book, plus I will make sure to include links to my websites.  As a result, if people give my book away or sell it, it sends free traffic and affiliate sales back to me. 

Of course, if I create a viral eBook, I can’t force anyone to share it with others. But, if I set things up correctly, then there are good chances that some people may give my book out for free to their emailing lists.  So, if my book is given away for free by the right people, then that can easily equate to 10’s of thousands of additional visits to my websites.  So, what you will want to do is implement these techniques in your online businesses because you will greatly increase your chances of success in the world of viral marketing.

Now, this short article isn’t about attracting the correct people to your list, but this article is designed to help teach you some tricks to virally building your list.  What you really want is for your list to grow larger and larger, and you want to get that list to the point where you can’t stop that list from growing.  I can think of a few internet marketers who have successfully done this, and what seems to be one of their biggest tricks in creating a viral list is through setting up an amazing affiliate program.

Setting up an affiliate program can take some time and effort, but if you do it right, people will automatically start visiting your website, and you will make a whole lot more sales.  One important thing though:  Make sure that you are very generous with your affiliate program.  If you are selling a $29 digital product, and you only offer a 30% commission, then people are only making about $9 each time someone buys through them.  Most affiliate marketers will agree that this is a very unappealing program.  But, if you have a $97 digital product, and you offer a generous 75% commission, then that is about $70 made per sale.  I would pick the 75% commission program over the 30% program any day.  By the way, if you are selling digital products, then setting up this type of affiliate program through ClickBank can be very easy for you to do.

O.K., so other than setting up great affiliate programs, there are other ways to create a viral list for your business.  One of my favorite ways is to create viral content on my website.  For example, if I tell you that you are going to get free eBooks, free conference calls and a free mini course on my website, all related to a topic of your interest, then that gives you a very compelling reason to visit my website and join my list.  Now, if that content is as great as I say it is, and if that content is good enough that people would probably sell it for hundreds of dollars, then there is a good chance that you may tell someone else about my website.  Achieving this word of mouth advertising is viewed as “hard to do” for most people.  And I will admit, if you are a lazy marketer, then this is really hard to do.  But, if you put your heart and soul into the content that you are offering, and if you strive to make this content the best free content in your niche, then the word of mouth marketing will come and your list will grow virally by the thousands.

It’s every video marketer’s dream:  That their video will get passed from person to person all across the web, bringing massive exposure for them and their business!  The only problem?  People aren’t very good at sharing, And even “perfect” videos may only get shared by a few people.  The solution?  Create each video so that your video is “viral” to the video sharing sites, or in other words, create ways to make the video sharing sites think that your content is worth sharing.  You see, the video sharing sites are your friends, and if a normal person won’t share your video with the world, a video sharing website just might.  But the video sharing site will only share your video with tons of people if you get that site to think that your video is really, really good.  Luckily, through my research I have been able to see how you can “trick” the video sharing sites into thinking that your video is better than everyone else’s, and the cool think is that this “trick” is considered to be a 100% legit.  I would never teach you one of those many black hat tricks!

So, what is this “trick” and why is it legit?  Well, the answer is actually so simple, that you aren’t going to believe it!  You see, I have discovered through my research how to easily get tons of viewers to rank, comment or share your video.  And if you have a video with lots of rankings and comments, then normal people may not share your video, but the video sharing sites will think your video is really great, so these sites will give your video more than average exposure. 

Drum roll please!  The simple trick is to ask people during your videos to rank, comment, or share your video with people!  Guess what happens when you simply follow this one step?  You will get a lot more comments and I have seen many videos get around 1 out of 30 people to simply rank the video!  And these are really great numbers!  You know that really famous “hahaha” video?  The one with the baby that laughs hysterically while his father makes a “boing” sound.  Well, at the time that I am writing this article, it has about 50 millions views.  And only about 1 out of 350 people have given this video a ranking.  People really love this video and only 3 out of every 1,000 viewers gives it a rank!  What is wrong with people?

Well, obviously there isn’t anything wrong with people, the only problem here is that people WON”T REMEMBER to rank a video if you don’t remind them to!  Most people will watch videos online for a long time, and they won’t even remember about some of the ranking systems that are available, that is, unless YOU REMIND THEM! 

Now, let’s say that you have a really great video that shares some great info with people, without reminding them of the ranking system, they will more than likely not give your video a ranking from the numbers we have seen.  But if you simply ask them to rank, comment, or share your video, and if they liked you video, then why wouldn’t they thank you by taking the 1 second to rank your video?  The real answer is that most people WILL take that one second to rank your video if you ask them to.  And if lots of people are ranking your video, then the video sharing sites will get the impression that people find your video interesting.  As a result, the video sharing sites will “share” your video more often and they can make your marketing videos “viral” for you!

Now, just the simple act of placing those icons doesn’t mean that you will get free viral marketing for your blog.  Your chances are higher by using these icons, but it still takes someone a little bit of effort to go ahead and decide to bookmark your website.  But what I saw this one person do on their blog is probably the most effective viral marketing technique that I have ever seen for your blog!  What did this person do?  He simply said the magic words, and I quote “Please Bookmark,” and then he supplied the icons.  Now, most people wouldn’t find these words particularly interesting, but what this person did reminded me of a really effective technique that people use in video marketing.  You see, a lot of people will ask people at the end of their videos to simply rank, comment, or share the video with other people.  It is not odd to see a video with this request to have 1 out of 30 people at least rank the video.  When comparing these numbers to videos that don’t ask you to rank, comment, or share the video, many of these videos struggle to get 1 out of 200 people to rank the video, and it may sound silly of me to suggest this, but I think the reason why is that people will tons more likely to rank or share your video if you simply just ask them to do so!

So, what does this mean for a blog or website?  Yes folks!  I am suggesting that if you simply ask people kindly to bookmark your blog, then they will be a whole lot more likely to do it.  Now, my hypothesis is that if your blog post has some really great content, and THEN you ask them to bookmark your page, you will probably have the highest chances of people bookmarking your webpage.  I believe that if people feel like that you provided them with that great content, then they might even feel like that they owe you the favor to simply bookmark your webpage.  And if you get enough people to do this, then you will get even more and more free traffic to your website.  Your blog will get ranked higher and higher on the social bookmarking sites and in a way it will “go viral.”  And the funny thing is, it will all be because you said the magic words!  (P.S. Now, I’ll admit that this video was a pretty good video, and it actually deserved a rating, but the funny thing is that every day I’ll view a good handful of great informative videos, and I won’t give those videos a rating.  The rating system with most of the video sharing sites help these sites determine which videos are of great value.  If a certain video gets a lot of ratings and comments, then that means that the video will normally get more and more exposure.  So, if you have a way of getting people to rate and comment on your videos, then this means that your videos will get ranked even higher!

So, here is the magic formula for making all of this happen:  Just simply ask for to rate and comment on your video.  That’s it!  You see, I did a little bit of research and found that when people actually ask for your to rate and comment of their video, a lot of the time they will at least rate the video for you, just because you asked!  That is what I did.  I rated this guy’s video because he asked me to.  Most of the time I am so busy that I don’t even remember that there is a rating system, but when he asked me to rate his video within the video, I was reminded and I simply gave him a rating without thinking. 

So, when it comes to viral video marketing, the magic words are simply “please” and “thank you.”  Simply thanking people for watching your video and asking them to please comment and rank your video will get your video more and more exposure.  Also, if you ask people to share your video with others, then they will more than likely remeber to share your video if it is worth sharing.

So why does this work and will this always work?  Well, I’ll be the first to tell you that this will not always work, and the first reason why is because most people ask for you to rate, share, or comment on the video at the very end of the video.  And if you video is garbage, then almost nobody will see the end of your video.  So, there is an important psychological aspect that you need to include when you ask someone to share, rate, or comment on your video.  You need to make the viewer feel like that you have provided them will something valuable as they watched your video.  This is especially easy with a “how to” video.  Think about this:  If I created a really detailed “how to” video that taught you how to easily make an extra $100 today, then my guess would be that you would be very thankful for this information.  Now, if I simply asked you a favor at the end of the video, a favor that would just take anywhere from 1 second to a couple of minutes (your choice by-the-way) then would you at least do me the 1 second favor?  In most cases, most people would at least do the 1 second favor, and when I talk about a 1 second favor, I just mean simply giving my video a rating, and if my video even just gets a bunch of ratings, then my video will get ranked higher and higher, given my video more and more views and allowing that video to be shared with more and more viewers.

One of the most popular ways for getting free viral traffic to your websites is by creating a viral eBook; the only problem is that many people do it all wrong.  Many people will write a book report and call it an eBook.  What I mean by this is that many people will write a 30 page guide, put everything is 18 point font, give people resale and master distribution rights, and call it good.  Now, some people write really great 30 page eBooks with killer content, but in the majority of cases, if you really want your viral eBook to be shared with everyone, then a 30 page “book report” isn’t going to work! 

So, here’s the real secret to creating a great viral eBook:  You are going to want to make the content so great that you would find people across the web selling similar content for $30, $50, $100 or more.  You want people to read your book and then think to themselves that the information was so great that they would have been willing to pay for the information.  When people think this to themselves, then they will want to include your eBook as a free bonus on their site, give it away, or resell your eBook for a profit.  You will mention your websites and maybe include a few affiliate links in your eBook so that you get free traffic and maybe make some extra income for your efforts.  

A second very popular way for you to create free viral marketing for your website is to provide great resources on your site.  It is very popular to see sites giving away free eCourses or newsletters.  I have done this a number of times and it works very well.  You can also give away your viral eBooks, free recorded calls, coupons, free reports, etc.  Basically, you want to provide tons of resources with high perceived value that you can deliver electronically, making the only cost to you your time.  Providing people with these great free offers usually automatically assures that you will get word of mouth advertising.  Remember that content is king, and that especially goes for viral marketing. 

A third sure-fire technique to brining free viral traffic to your websites is by creating viral videos. I admit that this is not an easy task to accomplish, but if you put in some effort, then it can all be worth it.  Here are a few tips:  First, make sure that after you have creating your “amazing video” that you include within that video a compelling offer for people to visit your website and learn more.  Second, ask people to share your video with friends and ask them to comment and rank your video.  If you convince people that your video is worth sharing, and then ask them to share it, then they likely will.  Third, upload your viral video to multiple video sharing sites for maximum exposure.  You see, your video make go viral on a site like Mega Video before it goes viral on YouTube, so you’ll want to upload and promote your video on as many sites as possible for maximum effectiveness. 

I would like to point out that there is a common theme amongst all three of these viral marketing techniques, and that is the theme of creating great content and then giving it to people for free.  When viral marketing has worked the best, it has always been because of people providing very informative or entertaining information for free.  The more value you can provide to people for free, the more word of mouth marketing you will receive.  Then you will be rewarded with tons of free website traffic while others may struggle to break even with a similar business.
