How can all of this be?  Well, because of the power of the internet, I have been able to use the concept of social marketing fairly easily.  And when you use social media sites on the web, there is zero cost.  So, this is what I do:  First, I join many of the social media sites that are very popular today across the web.  I am talking about video sharing sites like YouTube, and social networking sites like FaceBook and MySpace.  Then what do I do?  Well, I try to become social with a purpose.  For example, I will share great free information on videos that I upload to many of the video sharing sites.  Also, I will create a blog to share with the friends that I generate for myself on MySpace. It’s really not that hard, if you make great videos or create a great blog, then people will want to be your friend on many of these social media sites.  They will then decide they want to visit your websites and some will really be excited to purchase your products or join your network marketing team. 

So, what is the biggest reason why all of this rocks my socks?  Well, the biggest attraction for me is that if I can learn to generate sales through using social media, then the sales that I have generated cost me nothing in advertising.  As a result, I no longer need to spend thousands of dollars for Pay Per Click advertising for my online businesses.

Traffic swarm isn’t a scam because they do nothing illegal.  What they try to do is set up a system so that people can get lots of free targeted traffic to your website.  The good news is, they have succeeded at getting lots of people free traffic to their websites, which can do wonders for your Alexa rankings.  The thing that I think traffic swarm lacks is the ability to get TARGETED traffic to your websites. 

The Traffic Swarm system is set up on a credit basis.  You can earn credits by visiting other people’s websites, or you can purchase credits in order to get people to visit your website without having to visit other people’s websites.  Most people are required to stay on your website for over 20 seconds in order for them to earn a credit so that other people will do the same for their website.  The main flaw in this system is that it seems people will mainly go to your website for ONLY 20 seconds so they can hurry up and earn more and more credits.  So, if I was a credit earner, then the maximum amount of credits I could earn in one hour is 180 credits if my timing was perfect.  As a result, you are suppose to get tons of website visitors to your own website as a reward for the visits that you made.  So, if you need just a bunch of visits (but no sales) to your website, then this whole system will work for you.  I say that you will likely get zero sales because when people are clicking to your website, they are doing it just for the credit.  They are probably not going to care about what your website has to say, unless you have one specific type of website that would catch their attention. 

In my opinion, the mindset of the person on traffic swarm is that they want free website traffic, so if you have a website that will teach them how to get free website traffic, and if they are starting to get frustrated with the traffic swarm system, then they will likely decided to stay on your webpage and learn about what you have to offer.  If I was trying to advertise my website on traffic swarm, and if I was visiting tons of websites that had to do with “who knows what,”  then I would think that I would only find interest in a website that was telling me that I could get more free traffic, through a better means than the traffic swarm system. 

To sum things up, even though traffic swarm says that you will get free targeted traffic to your websites, I believe that you are only getting free traffic to your websites, and this traffic isn’t targeted.  There are actually a lot of ways to get free TARGETED traffic to your website, and I would like to share some of these ways with you.  It takes a little bit of work, but I think you will be highly satisfied with your results.

If you have experimented with traffic swarm, then you likely know that when you become part of traffic swarm, you will drive free traffic to your websites.  In fact they have set things up so that people will go and visit your website for about 20 seconds before people will receive a “credit”.  As a result, if you look at your analytics or tracking for your website, you will see that you are really getting these visitors to your website.  But, from most people’s experience you will not see any sales from this website traffic.  This is because the people on traffic swarm are using traffic swarm for the specific purpose of driving free traffic and get more sales on their OWN website. 

Now, let me ask you this, if you had to earn “credits” by viewing someone else’s website for 20 seconds, then what would you do?  I’ll tell you what I would do, I would go to that website, pull up another application that I was working on, and then sometime after 20 seconds go page to the webpage in order to “visit” another website in order to earn another credit.  In other words, I would go to that website for more than 20 seconds, but I wouldn’t actually look and/or care about that certain website. 

Now if everyone is doing this, then everyone is getting free traffic, and if you just need to improve your Alexa rankings, then this would work.  But may I suggest putting your effort into ways that will improve your Alexa rankings while getting real visitors to your website?  If the people visiting your website don’t care about what your website is about, then basically you are just wasting your time, aren’t you?  Now, like I said, there is one type of website that people SHOULD show interest in if they see your website on traffic swarm.  Remember why PPC advertising works so well?  It is because people are searching for your type of website when they type those keywords in the search engine.  When they go to your website, they are likely interested and will possibly buy from your website.  So, remembering this, what is the mindset of people while they are on traffic swarm?  What are they looking for? 

Folks, these people are looking for ways to generate free traffic!  So, if you have a website that teaches people how to get free traffic, or if you have a product that helps people get free traffic, then this would be one of the best websites to advertise on traffic swarm.  Now since most of us don’t have websites that are teaching people how to get free traffic, then we all need to learn some REAL ways to get free traffic to your website.  I encourage you to take me up on my free offer in order to learn these real ways to get free traffic.  Good luck!

Will this trick work for all blogs?  Nope.  Unfortunately, there are a large number of blogging software programs out there, so this is definitely not going to work for all blogs.  Also, if your blog is hosted on a different website like WordPress.com, or Blogger.com, then it is going to be a lot harder to put these social bookmarking buttons at the end of your posts.  Also, depending on which website you are using, there may not be a way for you to automate the process.  If you want these buttons automatically placed at the end of each of your posts, then the easiest way to do this will be to install a WordPress.org blog on your own website.  There are tons of benefits to doing this, and if you are serious about blogging for free traffic, then you should take the time to learn how to incorporate the WordPress.org software on your own website. 

So, if you want to add these social bookmarking buttons for a blog that you are promoting on blogging website, then the best advice I have for you will be to search for “Digg button” or “Social Network Button” on that websites FAQ.  Generally, if you can add these buttons to your posts, then the answer will be revealed in the FAQ. 

If you want automation, and you have already installed the latest version of the WordPress.org blogging software, then you’ll be pleased to know that there are a number of different WordPress plugins that you can incorporate on your blog for almost all social networking buttons.  Many of them work well, and at the time that I am writing this, one of the plugins that many people use that gives you a lot of options is the “Share This” plugin.  This plugin can be found at the following link: http://alexking.org/projects/wordpress

The funny thing about WordPress plugins is that some of them will work great for a while, but then after WordPress has made too many updates, the plugin may stop working all together.  I share this with you in case one day you find that the “Share This” plugin no longer works.  Then you will know to look for a different plugin that does the same thing.  Also, you may want to install the “Share This” plugin along with other plugins that function similarly in order to see which plugin you like most for your blog.

So, what is step #1?  The first step to driving thousands of free visitors to your website is to do a little bit of online research.  You are going to want to see what need to be done in order to get the free traffic over your competitors.  Depending on your niche, you will find that you may have little to zero competition.  Step #2 is either going to be very easy or somewhat difficult according to your competition.  Study the search results for many of the keyword phrases you think people would look for in your area. 

O.K., here is step #2:  The secret behind step #2 is that the search engines will easily rank articles, blog posts, and videos, along with normal web pages.  So, if I write and publish an article on multiple article directory sites and on my blog about the best catering businesses in Raleigh, North Carolina, then when somebody searches “best Raleigh catering businesses,”  then my article will most likely find it’s place at the top of the search results, assuming that I am the only person who has written and optimized this type of content for the web.  You will be able to easily see to what extent you need to write these articles and grow your blog according to the research you had done in step one.  If there is a lot of competition, then what you will want to do is go after the number one spot on the search engines for very specific keyword phrases.  For example, I would assume that some people looking for catering in Raleigh might do a more specific search if they were doing a wedding.  So, you might want to write an article on the best wedding catering businesses in Raleigh, and you better convey that your business is the best one. 

Step #3:  If you want or need more free traffic, then do more, lots more.  Here is what I mean:  Along with article and blog marketing, you can also implement and learn an even longer list of free traffic generation techniques.  You could literally stay busy 24/7 driving massive amounts of traffic for your online business.  You may consider:  learning viral marketing, video marketing, affiliate marketing, MySpace marketing, FaceBook marketing and/or social marketing.  I could write for days on all of these other topics, but for now, just start by working on your article and blog marketing for your online business.  Then maybe do a little bit of video marketing by turning your articles into videos and uploading this videos to many of the video sharing sites on the web.  In most niche markets, you will be well ahead of the competition if you just implement a few of these tactics.

Here is secret #1:  One of the first major secrets to getting free online advertising is that you, the person sitting at home with your one website, working all by yourself, and competing with million dollar companies, YOU can actually get your website placed amongst the internet titans.  And why can you do this?  Well, million dollar companies aren’t usually composed of a bunch of internet marketers and entrepreneurs.  Million dollar companies are usually composed of a few great workers and a bunch of employees.  So, what does that million dollar company do?  They hire a webmaster (that probably knows nothing about internet marketing) to create their websites.  That webmaster will probably do some basic search engine optimization, write the websites programs and html, and then his job is done. 

Then who does the million dollar company hire?  A marketing team.  And what does the marketing team know about online marketing?  Well, the team is probably lucky if they have somebody that knows how to correctly implement an AdWords account.  Eventually the marketing team will put together a plan to advertise the website, and they probably have a budget of hundreds of thousands of dollars that they will use to advertise the website.  As a result, the website has some good popularity due to the amount of advertising that is being spent, and with some basic search engine optimization the website is indexed and ranked on many of the search engines. 

So, you sitting at home, what are you competing with?  You are competing with some basic search engine optimization along with a very large marketing budget.  At first glance the large marketing budget can seem tough to compete with, and it makes sense that after spending millions of dollars in advertising that your website should eventually be indexed near the top of the search engine results, but the really cool thing is secret #2:  When it comes to free online advertising, content is king, and many million dollar businesses have little real content on their websites.  For example, I did a quick Google search for:  Ford Explorer 2009.  I searched to see if a ford website would come up first in the search engine results.  Guess what came up first on the search?  A YouTube video featuring the 2009 model of the Ford Explorer.  Why?  Because according to Google, this was the most relevant information for my search.  And the searches after this video came from articles discussing this new model of truck.  What does this mean?  This must mean that Ford failed to write much content for their new model on their own website.  In fact, it wasn’t until the 7^th search result that I found information from www.ford-trucks.com.  And guess what?  www.ford-trucks.com states at the bottom of their website that they are in no way affiliated with the Ford Motor Company.  (But don’t worry Ford, I found your website for this search on the 2^nd page of the search results, unfortunately, very few people click through to the second page.)

So, what does all of these mean for you?  Well, if you owned the website www.ford-trucks.com, then you would probably be pretty pleased with your results.  And there is a chance that this website is ran by a few, or possibly just one guy.  Now, of course I could be wrong, and maybe this website is ran by a team of 20 or 30 guys, but the point is that you can easily have a website rank higher that websites ran by million or even billion dollar companies.  And the reason why is because you are going to be the internet marketer entrepreneur, and they aren’t.

Now there are a good handful of websites that are already giving away information for free, and they have discovered why this method of marketing works so well.  But I just wanted to point out that many of the REALLY successful websites are giving away information so great that they are making extraordinary amounts of internet profits.  Basically, what I am saying is that it almost seems like the better your free information is, the more money you are going to make. 

But why is this?  Why if I give you tons of free conference calls, eBooks, videos and mini courses, information that other companies would probably charge you hundreds of dollars for, if I do all this why will I make a whole lot of income?  I believe this is because people have the mindset that if the free information is so great, then the paid information must be spectacular.  This puts a lot of pressure on us as a business to create the best information that we can provide.  But, as a business owner, isn’t that what I should be doing anyway?  And, if I am providing outstanding information, then I have the right to charge a bit more than a mediocre company would, right? 

Think about this:  If you come to my website and I give you a free weekly newsletter for signing up on my auto responder, then that would be worth it to you if I was giving you some great information each week.  But if I am only giving you one email per week, are you going to think that the program that I am selling you is worth $1,000?  Nope!  If I were you, I wouldn’t expect to pay more than $34 on a website that was sending me an occasional email each week as the “free info.”  But, if each week I invite you to a couple of conference calls, and every few weeks I am sending you free 50 page pdfs with valuable information, and if I am constantly creating great videos you can view for free, then could I justify the $1,000 cost for my program?  The answer for most businesses would be a confident “yes.”  So, what is the whole point of what I am teaching you hear.  What I am trying to teach you is that the more great information you can give away for free, the more likely you are going to be to make huge internet profits.  And if you give away a minimal amount of information for free each week, then it will be pretty tough to justify a price of $1,000, $500, or even $200 for whatever product or service you are selling.

But some companies already know this and are afraid.  They are afraid that if they give away their information for free that they won’t make any sales.  Smack, smack, smack!  Wake up!  You are thinking completely backwards, and here’s why:  What happens when you give out great information for free?  Does the average person just take the free stuff and then run with it?  Maybe in some cases, but when you go to places like Sam’s Club and Costco, and they give you that free food sample, have you even gone back and decided to buy that new product?  Even if you have only done this once or twice in the past few years, giving away things for free has turned you into a buyer.  You tried the free sample, it got your taste buds excited, and then you wanted more. 

What if I do the same thing with my business.  What if I get my prospects excited with the free stuff?  Will they want more?  Well, why not?  Let’s look at the example of software companies.  They give you a 1 month free trial of the software.  The software proves to add value to your business.  But you only had the 1 month free trial.  How likely are you to purchase the full software program?  I admit, I have fallen for this “trap” a few times.  At times the free trials of these software programs have been so great that I almost have felt “forced” to pay for the full version of these software programs.  I just had to have it because I had already integrated the software into my business!

But some companies are afraid.  They are afraid that if they give out a bunch of information, a free trial, or a free sample, then people won’t come back for more.  If you are that afraid that people won’t come back for more, then you likely need to improve your company’s products and services, because if I try your software program, or if I try your new pasta at Costco, or if I get on your weekly newsletter, and the free stuff isn’t great, then I WON’T be coming back for more.  You may even know that your products and services need improving, and that may be why you are afraid to give away some of your info for free.  You know that most people won’t come back for more if they try the free stuff.  If you find yourself in this situation, then you need to greatly improve your business practices if you want your business to make it through the next year.
