The MySpace Profile Formula is:

1. Personal Pictures (Helps grab your reader’s attention, and draw them in)

2. Personal Background (Helps you make a connection / helps people to relate with you / helps build rapport with your reader and draws them further into your story to keeps them interested to want to learn more about you. Maybe they were born in the same area or moved around a lot as a child just like you did…)

3. Personal Problem (Here you paint your own personal frustrations, challenges, or problems that caused you to look for a solution or a different alternative to what you were already doing (and what you’re potential client is  or could be doing right now) that just wasn’t working for you.)

4. Solution (Here, you tell your *STORY* on how you got introduced to the solution… and what kind of experience you’ve had with it. Your solution or results will often be exactly what they’re looking for)

5. Call to Action (Finally, you invite your reader to either call you, send you a message, or tell them to subscribe to your newsletter list or blog.)

6. Describe exactly who you’d love to work with or help. This one is mainly for those looking to build sales teams, etc. What characteristic traits would you absolutely love to see in your perfect business partner. Kind of like an employer lists exactly what their looking for when they put up a job posting… you want to describe exactly what you’re looking for in the right prospect who is looking for what your product, service, or opportunity offers.

This is an excellent way to get leads!!

I’ll be honest. This isn’t my favorite way to get free traffic to my website, but it’s certainly one of the most effective.

To illustrate how relationship building on the Internet really works, here’s a quick story about an average guy… we’ll call him Rick.

Things had never come easily for Rick, but he worked hard and landed a decent job after graduating from college.

Now that he was employed, he figured it was a good time to get married, settle down and start a family. So he was ready to go searching for ‘Miss Right’.

One Friday night, Rick gets a call from his buddy who tells him about a great new bar that was opening up down the street from where he lived.

They both meet up and after nursing an iced cold one for a few minutes, he looks past the crowd… and there she was… Samantha, the girl of his dreams.

Rick fixes his hair, straightens his collar and walks right over to her…

Their eyes meet, sparks fly…

He reaches out to shake her hand and says:

“Hi. Will you marry me?”

“Whoa!! Stop right there creep!”

Talk about putting the cart before the horse!!

It’s obvious that this approach doesn’t work in the real world, yet, this is exactly what most online marketers are doing to build their business. It’s no wonder why most of them fail; they’re so impatient, they propose even before the “first date”!

They usually bypass the entire process of building trust with their prospects and instead pounce on them, going straight for walking down the aisle (the close).

O.K., so most people when they see something like this think words like:  scam, business opportunity, pyramid, etc.  But then there is another portion of the population that thinks words like:  wealth, prosperity, smart, multiply your efforts, etc.  If you are the type of person thinking of the more positive aspects of this scenario, then you and article marketing where made for each other, especially with the technologies available to us today. 

You see, every time I write an article, I make sure that I follow the correct steps that I need to take so that my article can be shared on hundreds of different websites across the web.  Also, a majority of these websites that I submit to will share my same article with other publications if I have gained the trust of that article directory site and if I have submitted an exceptional article. 

Now, here is how you can mess up:  Some people think that they can write a bunch of simple articles and send out an “article blitz” to these many article directory sites in order to get massive exposure for their business.  This generally will not work because the good article directory sites will actually review your article before accepting it into their system.  Don’t try this!  Instead, focus on creating a couple of exceptional articles to submit each week.

After your have gotten your feet wet with article marketing, you are going to either want to use a type of software that will submit your articles to multiple sites,  or use a service in which you pay a monthly fee that will allow you to do so.  Or, I guess if you really wanted to you could submit each article one by one to multiple sites.  For example,  you can head over to a couple of well-known sites like EzineArticles.com and GoArticles.com.  If they like your articles, then they will automatically share it with other sites for you.  The whole point is that you are going to want to multiply your efforts.  Work hard to make each article a good one and then share it with as many sites as you can.  If you follow the steps that I teach, then you can make sure that you don’t commit a lot of the mistakes that newbie article marketers make.

You see, each time you submit an article to most of the article directories across the web, it actually gets reviewed for content. Now, don’t get me wrong, there are some article directories that accept just about every single article that is submitted to them. Unfortunately, your article on one of these sites is going to get you little to zero exposure. What you really want is to write good content, get it seen by some of the more prestigious article directory sites, and then hope that they promote that article to other sites as great content.

Now, here’s where even the best of article writers will mess up. They will get the false idea in their heads that if they are always writing great content, then they will always have their articles accepted by the article directory sites. The truth is that if an article directory site has noticed that you are sending them 5, 10, or 20 articles per week, they will then recognize you as the author and start to simply discard your “article blitz.” But if you limit your article writing to just maybe a few articles per week, and make each one of those articles your best work, then these article directory sites will then start to really notice you as an expert author. And as long as your content continues to perform, then you will grow as a valuable asset to them and they will start to look forward to your content. It will get easier and easier for them to accept each one of your articles into their directory, and your best work (in their eyes) will be shared with more and more sites, bringing you the exposure that you deserve.

So, don’t make the mistake of planning on an “article blitz.” Do things right. Make a couple of great articles each week and get those couple of articles actually read and accepted by the article directories. Then, all will be well with your article marketing.

Now, since the click through to the website is what you really want, you are going to want to just follow a couple of simple steps each time you write your articles. You will want to follow these steps and not add much to them, and the reason why is because the longer your article gets, the less likely people are going to read the whole thing and the less likely they will even see the link to your website and your offer in the “About the Author” box.

So here are those two necessary steps you should take in your article. Follow these two steps, keep the article short, and you will probably get the reader to click through to your site.

Step one: Without using any “fluff,” as fast as you can, give them solid information based on the topic of the article. If they clicked on your article in order to learn something, teach it to them fast. That’s what they wanted, so just give it to them already! There really is no need to write a 3 page essay on a topic that you can cover in half a page. If the content you are providing is good solid material, without making any sales pitches, then your article will be accepted by the article directory sites in the majority of cases. An article around 600 words in length is good length.

Step two: Provide the reader with a free offer that gives them even more information on the same topic (but do it in the “About the Author” box!) Since you are going to keep your article short but informative, your readers will more than likely take you up on your offer of more free information. Just don’t make your article too short. I doubt many 1 paragraph articles are accepted by the article directory sites. If you hit hard on your topic and the article ends up only being 3/4ths of a page long, then you are probably still good to go. The article directory sites what you to use the “About the Author” box in order to share your “offer” with everyone. If you write a good, short article, then provide a great offer in the “About the Author” box, then you will get your free traffic (which was probably the main goal of your article anyway). Now, for those of you that enjoy the feeling of paying thousands in advertising each month for your website, I would suggest not reading any further.  This is because I just might convince you that you can get a whole lot of free traffic to your website, just by having a few articles written each week.  In fact, if you have anyone in your company that has only just passed high school English, then I am sure that you can have them write some pretty nice articles for your company. 

Now, here’s the exciting part.  Since we are in the information age, there are very easy ways for each one of your articles to get maximum exposure.  In fact, for my article marketing, I send each article to hundreds of different websites.  Some of these websites may have not give my articles the exposure they deserve, (Come on guys!  I spent about 20 minutes of my time writing these things) but regardless of this fact, other websites will give my articles great exposure.  As a result, I get varying amounts of free traffic with each article that I submit, but even the minimal exposure is worth it!  This is because I do the work once and I get the free traffic for months and years to come. 

Now, the big question is:  How do I easily submit one article to hundreds of different sites?  Well, there are a number of different tools out there that you can experiment with.  Some of these tools will be free, and others are paid but automate a large portion of the process for you.   Most serious article marketers will use the paid services, and one of my favorites is the service from www.ArticleMarketer.com. 

Now matter if you use a free service, submit articles manually, or use one of the paid services.  The most important thing for your article marketing is to just do it.  There is some real power behind submitting these articles once and then enjoying the free traffic for years to come.
